Burundi’s Foreign Minister Édouard Bizimana has proven, yet again, that he is an undiplomatic loose cannon; a self-sabotaging buffoon that spews inflammatory, unsubstantiated rants that even the crude Burundian dictator Évariste Ndayishimiye aka Gen. Neva rushes to disown.
Just days ago, Bizimana accused both a Gulf power and the Trump Administration of conspiring on behalf of Rwanda, claiming Qatar bribed Washington to ignore alleged Rwandan operations in eastern DRC. But he deleted the tweet after his boss publicly rebuked him, praising Qatar’s mediation role and “clarifying” the statement was wrong.
If Burundi’s bumbling dictator can shut down his own minister for reckless utterances, Bizimana should take the hint: stop peddling unverified smears and let facts prevail over fiction.
Bizimana’s latest nonsense that “the situation continues to deteriorate with the M23 (allegedly supported by Rwandan) continuing to seize localities and villages, causing a massive influx of refugees”, falsifies the reality on the ground.
Thousands of Congolese fled eastern DRC due to attacks by the Tshisekedi coalition of negative forces, namely Burundian forces, the Hutu Power Imbonerakure militia, the tropical nazis from FDLR, and the Wazalendo civilian militia.
Calm has returned to Uvira, Sangé, Luvungi, Kamanyola, and the surrounding areas, yet the refugees remain trapped in Burundi. Why? Because the CNDD-FDD military junta, illegally in power since June 2020, deliberately blocks the Gatumba-Kavimvira border crossing, forcing civilians into overcrowded camps where abuse is routine.
Reports from these camps read like a horror dossier: extrajudicial executions, arbitrary detentions, torture, and beatings by the Hutu Power Imbonerakure militia, Burundian secret services, police, and the tropical Nazis of the FDLR, all integrated into Burundi’s armed forces. Refugees are whipped, starved, denied medical care, and held hostage; all planned and sanctioned by Neva’s junta.
Meanwhile, Bizimana continues to attack individuals based on ethnicity and defend or excuse internationally condemned genocidal armed groups, all while ignoring the abuses perpetrated by his own regime. His pattern of inflammatory claims, whether targeting Qatar or M23/AFC, makes him a liability to Burundi’s diplomacy.
For a man with supposed diplomatic credentials, his credibility is nonexistent. If your own inept boss publicly forces you to backpedal, what trust do foreign governments have left? Bizimana is not a diplomat; he is a buffoon peddling conspiracy theories that risk escalating regional conflict.
Can this clown learn to shut up?
Whatever, he can go on exposing the calibre of the so-called Burundian leadership.
