Outrage in Burundi as famine begins to bite

Under the uniquely brutal and corrupt regime headed by Ndayishimiye Evariste aka NEVA, Burundi has fallen deeper into poverty and despair. The poorest country in the world suffers massive shortages and complete lack of basic essentials such as fuel, water, electricity and medical supplies. Now, in 2026, farmers are sounding the alarm, there will be famine!

By looting all foreign currency reserves, estimated to be less than a month worth of import needs, Ndayishimiye’s regime has no fertilizers to offer farmers despite having collected funds from these vulnerable citizens. In a despicable scam, farmers are forced to buy fertilizers from FOMI (Owned by Adrian Ntigacika, Ndayishimiye’s business partner). For each paying farmer, government triples the pay in subsidies yet nothing is delivered.

Progressively, this scam has crushed farmers yield pushing food security at an all times low while Ndayishimiye arrogantly shows-off his wealth. Farmers contributions and government subsidies are simply looted, along with foreign currencies granted to FOMI for fertilizer raw material importation. To add insult to injury, FOMI’s owner has even been granted prime land in Bujumbura for free supposedly to build a university and a shopping mall. Adrian Ntigacika aka Ziranotse will take the land, currently a primary school, with the mere promise of constructing a 1,500 pupils’ primary school elsewhere.

In summary, Ndayishimiye’s rule is looting and self-enrichment for the elite and impoverishment for the rest. Famine will hit and hit hard; CNDD-FDD’s fanatics will not be spared.

Unfortunately, neighboring countries will have to expect more Burundian migrants fleeing from hunger, desperate and dying due to the tolerated corrupt kleptomaniac regime.
