Failed opposition leader in Mozambique behind smear campaign against Rwanda, it’s ridiculous!

In the aftermath of Mozambique’s recent election, a failed opposition politician, Venâncio Mondlane, has been bad mouthing Rwanda. He is spreading lies and propaganda against Rwanda’s intervention in Mozambique’s troubled Cabo Delgado region.

Having badly lost both the election (and his credibility), Mondlane has resorted to dragging the name of Rwanda in the mud. He is a failed politician that’s run out of ideas!

The man is accusing Rwandan troops of “killing Mozambican protesters in Maputo”, a blatant, dangerous lie.

Rwandan troops have never been anywhere near Maputo, the Mozambican capital.

They are hundreds and hundreds of kilometers away, in Cabo Delgado.

Yet, over the weekend Mondlane urged supporters to flood the Facebook page of President Kagame, to troll him with lies and demands that he “withdraw Rwandan troops”, as if Mondlane is the government! What a deluded fellow!

He pushes the smear that Rwandan forces are “killing Mozambicans who are only peacefully protesting”, an absurd lie that deserves only contempt.

This inflammatory rhetoric not only misleads the Mozambican public but disregards the complex security situation in Cabo Delgado.

Rwandan forces have been operating in Cabo Delgado for nearly four years, under a bilateral agreement with the government of Mozambique. They never involve themselves in the internal politics of Mozambique.

Their mission is specific and vital: to combat extremist Islamist fighters, namely Al Shabaab. These terrorists were a scourge, wreaking havoc in the Cabo Delgado province, until the RDF, at the formal request of Mozambique to Rwanda, stepped in, to help restore peace and stability.

The presence of Rwandan forces, working in close collaboration with Mozambican security forces, has allowed thousands of displaced villagers to return to their homes, restoring peace to this war-torn province.

Rwandan forces have maintained discipline and neutrality, focusing solely on their mission to neutralize extremism in Cabo Delgado, not meddling in Mozambique’s internal politics.

But a loser like Venâncio Mondlane is determined to create a false impression that Rwanda is involved in killing Mozambican civilians.

Mondlane obviously not only is a sore loser, but he has unholy motives, probably being driven by external actors within the SADC region that have only been sour-graping about Rwanda, yet have never succeeded in helping Mozambique rid itself of the scourge of terrorism.

Other observers suspect Mondlane’s claims might be influenced by rich Genocidaires – who fled to Mozambique after perpetrating the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Once in Mozambique they got involved in business, and a few became quite wealthy. Fellows like these have been fueling anti-Rwandan hate in the country (and in the wider southern African region).

Are they part of Mondlane’s anti-Rwanda smears?

You can bet they are!
