It doesn’t take much effort to uncover the decline in the regime of Congolese ruler Felix Tshisekedi. A quick search online reveals a disturbing portrait of a regime steeped in abuse of power and lawlessness.
Let’s start with his most loyal mouthpiece, Patrick Muyaya Katembwe. With the backing of General Ndaywell, the former head of military intelligence, Muyaya orchestrated the kidnapping and illegal detention of his former mistress, Gisele Busima Nebale, for 45 days. No charges were filed. No legal process was followed. This is because Muyaya suspected her of being a “Rwandese spy.” This was cruelty and power abuse.
Then there’s the scandal involving Mutebwa Mulumba Jean de Dieu, a diplomat appointed by Tshisekedi and sent to Belgium. He was caught red-handed with 206 kilograms of cocaine en route to Turkey. This was another glimpse into the criminality that surrounds the regime.
And the list doesn’t end there.
Constant Mutamba, another figure close to the regime, embezzled $ 19 million that was meant to improve prison infrastructure. That money vanished, while prisons remain overcrowded and inhumane.
Even Tshisekedi himself isn’t immune to scandal. He has been tied to illegal mining operations in Haut-Katanga and Lualaba, shielded by the Republican Guard. These covert ventures have generated millions of dollars, all far from public accountability.
This is not a government. It’s a network of criminals exploiting public office for personal gain. Under Tshisekedi, embezzlement, abuse of power, and state-sponsored crime have become the norm.
The facts speak for themselves. Tshisekedi’s regime isn’t just incompetent; it’s corrupt to the core.
