The circus of populism: Fayulu joins Tshisekedi in a dance of deception

Martin Fayulu, the loud opposition voice known more for populism than concrete solutions has now become the final piece in Tshisekedi’s failing regime. A regime that clings to gimmicks and political theatre while the nation bleeds.

Incompetent Tshisekedi, under growing pressure especially after Joseph Kabila’s recent appearance in Goma, seems desperate for distractions. In a new twist, he is now courting Fayulu, a man with whom he shares more than just tribalism. Both men have long peddled identity politics, using tribal loyalties as a ladder to power.

To the dupe, it might seem like a grand move to “save the Republic.” But this alliance is no rescue mission—it is a calculated performance.

This new union between Tshisekedi and Fayulu threatens to deepen the alienation of Swahili-speaking Congolese in the Eastern DR Congo. The rhetoric brewing behind closed doors reeks of exclusion and marginalization, particularly targeting those affiliated with the AFC movement.

The real plan is to delegitimize swahiliphones and Congolese Tutsi community under the guise of national unity.

The people of Congo have seen this play before. A cycle of false promises, empty populism, and ethnocentric politics, all while the nation bleeds

To my fellow Congolese, take heart. But do not be deceived. There is no peace to be found in this alliance.

Tshisekedi and Fayulu are not here to heal the wounds of this nation; they are here to extend the chaos.

Their unity is a mask, hiding a shared appetite for power and plunder.

Peace will not come from recycled populists. It will come when we reject the politics of tribalism and demand leadership rooted in integrity, justice, and true national unity.
