The EU’s €20 million “gift” to war: Belgium betrays peace, again

The European Union, through Belgium, has announced €20 million in support to the DR Congo army (FARDC), stationed in Kindu. While they brand this as a step toward “strengthening capabilities.” But the reality is that this is yet another foreign investment in war, not peace.

Why fund a Congolese military brigade, knowing their history of terrorizing innocent civilians, massacring them, and looting their property? In a region already suffering from decades of conflict and exploitation?

The answer is simple: continued chaos benefits outsiders, most of all that vast, resource-rich former colony of the Belgians.

While Congolese civilians starve, lack healthcare, and live in insecurity, the EU – with an asssist by machinations by Brussels – prioritizes arming a bandit military over encouraging peace.

Belgium, Congo’s former colonizer, continues its legacy of exploitation.

Its history of bloodshed, from Leopold II’s atrocities to modern mineral looting, proves it has never truly cared for the Congolese people. This move is a continuation of their agenda to see Africa in ruins.

Most shamefully the regime of Felix Tshisekedi has willingly become an obedient vassal of its former colonizer, paying no heed to the interests of its nationals.

The FARDC that’s being funded is not, and has never been a professional force.

It is the exact opposite, as over the years it’s repeatedly violated all norms or ethics, corrupt, and no better than a militia. Giving them 20 million Euros is like handing fuel to arsonists and calling it firefighting.

What’s more, Belgium’s ambitions don’t stop at the DRC’s borders. By fueling conflict here, they ensure instability across the Great Lakes region, keeping neighboring states on edge and their own resource interests unchallenged. This region-wide destabilization secures extractive deals and foreign influence at the expense of genuine security and development for all its peoples.

Such open malice, wicked interferences and self-serving agendas are why Rwanda cut ties with them, ending the toxic relationship to protect its own sovereignty and regional stability.

If the EU truly sought peace, it would push for political dialogue, demilitarization, and justice, rather than reward the Tshisekedi regime, a government known more for repression than reform.

The Congolese people must recognize this hypocrisy. Real solutions won’t come from foreign pockets with hidden agendas. The fight for peace, dignity, and sovereignty must come from within.

The EU isn’t funding peace. It’s financing more suffering.

And history will remember.
