British sanctions won’t shake Rwanda’s resolve to defend itself against existential threats

The United Kingdom has now joined the US and Belgium in imposing sanctions on Rwanda in light of the ongoing conflicts in eastern DRC. UK’s decision follows the visit of British Foreign Secretary David Lanny to both Kinshasa and Kigali.

However, for Rwanda, this decision comes as no surprise. The UK, like others before it, has clearly aligned itself with the regime of Felix Tshisekedi in DR Congo, while ignoring the existential threats Rwanda faces due to Congolese actions or stances.

In imposing its sanctions, the UK in a communique said “Rwanda MAY have security concerns, but it is unacceptable to resolve these militarily.” This colonialist mindset clearly tells us our security is of no concern at all to the Labor Government in the UK.

Their motivations mainly have to do with pleasing Tshisekedi, obviously in hope of securing mineral deals in that humongous failed state.

The expectation is that the Rwandan government do nothing, and simply watch as criminal Tshisekedi and his genocidal allies work to destabilize the country or, like good servant Africans, beg Western nations for protection.

But while the UK imposes sanctions on Rwanda, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced an increase in his country’s military budget to protect British citizens. This highlights the hypocrisy and arrogance of the West, whose credo when talking to those they deem inferior always has been: do as I say, not as I do!

The actions of the British and other Western countries in sanctioning Rwanda only embolden the Tshisekedi regime to commit all sorts of infractions against peace – including cranking up hate speech against everyone of Tutsi ethnicity – and perpetrate crimes against humanity, with impunity.

Instead of addressing the root causes of the conflict, the so-called international community is content to turn a blind eye and bury the real issues.

The UK, Belgium, and other Western countries have sided with Tshisekedi, not because they believe in justice, but because they prioritize their own economic and political interests while mouthing off about “the need for Rwanda to respect Congolese sovereignty” – as if Rwanda’s own sovereignty is somehow to be disregarded!

Well, too bad for the British and all the others siding with Tshilombo.

Rwanda stands firm in its commitment to defend itself protect its people, and will do so regardless all the external pressure.

Rwanda will not sit and do nothing against existential threats posed by the Kinshasa regime – and its allies of FDLR Interahamwe, Burundian troops sent to participate in Tshisekedi’s campaign of ethnic cleansing against eastern DR Congo troops while also plotting to invade Rwanda as part of Tshisekedi’s coalition to “overthrow the Rwandan government.”

Never!
