Once again, UNSC lies in bed with Genocidaires

The recent developments in the Eastern Provinces of DRC Congo has revealed, once again, the inner demons in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). 31 years ago, blinded by geopolitical games, the UNSC failed to stop the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis in Rwanda. It is now playing games, again, and it has shown it’s willingness to sacrifice Congolese Tutsis for geopolitical interests and games.

To achieve its goal, the UNSC relies on theatrics and propaganda that twists victims and butchers roles, it enables them to play neutral hiding their lack of objectivity and vested interest. An illustration of this would be the publicised case of prisoners in Goma said to have been raped and killed by members of the M23 liberation movement. Why would a liberation movement rape, kill and burn prisoners of the Congolese oppressive regime? Logically, most of those prisoners, unjustly jailed by the Congolese junta, would be supporters of the M23.

The UN needed to find something to charge the M23 with, whether it makes sense or not, the same crooked logic was applied in the unbelievable story that the M23 executed children in Bukavu. The propaganda surrounding the children story was based on a hoax of missing child soldiers forcibly recruited by the Tshisekedi regime. Videos and eye witnesses confirmed what happened in Bukavu; Tshisekedi’s army and his allies left Bukavu and M23 simply marched in to curb the lawlessness left behind characterised by looting and killings. M23 restored order in Bukavu, not by killing and looting, but rather by stopping the madness deliberately installed by the Kinshasa regime.

Despite these facts, for selfish reasons linked to mining contracts, the UNSC opted to only listen to propaganda disseminated by some of its members and the Tshisekedi regime. The UNSC has always resorted to finding all parties guilty as their modus operandi to avoid taking decisive action. It is easier to say, “you are all wrong” than to point out who is right and who is wrong.

Their latest resolution proves it, they call for the withdrawal of M23 from Goma and Bukavu –in other words a return to chaos and mayhem– but also calls for Tshisekedi to stop his support to FDLR (the terrorist organisation that carried out the 1994 genocide against Tutsis in Rwanda). This is the equivalent of odering Britain to withdraw from France and asking Mussolini to stop supporting the Nazi regime in the second world war!

Nothing could be more gross than the false moral equivalence deliberately drawn by the UNSC that once (or twice) said “never again” to genocide and genocide ideology.
