Amnesty International, other biased sympathizers of IVU, cannot dictate how Rwandan justice works

The trial of eight members of Ingabire Victoire Umuhoza’s unregistered “party”, DALFA-Umurinzi resumed yesterday, Thursday 4 December. J

Among the accused are individuals including so-called journalists that incessantly publish or air out propaganda pushing the dangerous agenda of Victoire Ingabire aka IVU. As the prosecution presented evidence, busybody organizations like Amnesty International once again butted in with their biases, as de-facto mouthpieces of Ingabire and her groups.

Amnesty International published a statement demanding “the immediate release” of Ingabire’s associates, interfering in Rwandan justice like the colonial overlords they aspire to be. They were advocating for the release of IVU’s propagandists on the ground that these are “journalists locked up because of their work”.

To Amnesty, of course advocacy means taking sides against Rwanda in the most biased way possible, swallowing IVU’s lies and fictions wholesale, and regurgitating them as unvarnished truth!

As for the members of her so-called party, one must question: which legitimate opposition do they represent?

The courtroom evidence paints a vastly different picture.

The prosecution has revealed detailed evidence of clandestine meetings and trainings orchestrated by these criminal associates of IVU. These sessions whose goal is to incite protests in urban areas, and to mobilize groups such as street vendors and teachers, all in a bid to cause civil strife, are what Amnesty calls political activity. The ultimate objective (more of a day dream) of IVU and her group is to overthrow the leadership of Rwanda, through methods outlined in the book “Blueprint for Revolution”, written by one Srdja Popovic.

While the trial is ongoing and the prosecution continues to present evidence, rights masqueraders like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have rushed to publish reports framing the criminals as victims of “political persecution.” Their wish is to undermine Rwanda’s judicial independence.

But Rwanda’s commitment to rule of law ensures that no one is above accountability.

Amnesty International and similar other foreign organizations should cease their attempts to manipulate international opinion, while interfering in legal proceedings of a sovereign nation.

If they don’t, so be it.

Nothing will stop the law taking its course in Rwanda.
