The Belgium government continues to sacrifice its relationship with Rwanda, in their calculated stance of appeasing DRC loose cannon Tshisekedi.
Belgium no doubt thinks that hostility to Rwanda is the best way to gain favor with the Kinshasa regime.
They are very mistaken!
Nothing good can come out of wrongs and injustices.
Recently, in the erroneous path that its chosen, Belgium refused to support the European Council’s military aid to support Rwandan troop operations in Mozambique where the RDF, at the invitation of the Mozambique government, is battling Islamist terrorism. In a European Union vote on the resolution to send over 20 million Euros in assistance to RDF operations, Belgium chose to abstain.
It was a decision clearly meant to show support for Kinshasa’s incessant hostile pronouncements, full of propaganda lies, against Rwanda – such as Tshisekedi’s wild claims that “Rwandan forces are actively involved” in the DRC conflicts “alongside the M23 Movement.”
Kinshasa has repeatedly peddled this lie, even as it’s Tshisekedi and his cabal that openly support a terrorist movement guilty of genocide, whose goal is to sow instability in Rwanda, and bring back genocide.
If Belgium is genuinely concerned with upheaval or conflict in the Great Lakes Region, why can’t it condemn Kinshasa?
On the other hand, by abstaining to support military aid to the RDF troops in Mozambique (something that has absolutely nothing to do with Congolese affairs), is Belgium directly abetting instability in Mozambique?
Other than that, last year Belgium took another hostile act against Rwanda when it refused to accredit its envoy to Brussels. What a shameful state of affairs, to see a government like Belgiums dancing to the tune of wild incompetents and loose cannons such as the Kinshasa cabal!
Brussels offered no formal explanation why it had rejected the envoy. Still, Congolese hostility to the nominated envoy in question is well documented. There can be no other explanation except that the Zairois had leaned on Belgium (which is salivating for a piece of mineral exploiting action in the lawless DRC) and which complied.
Shame on them!
The actions of Belgium only risk exacerbating tensions in the GLR, other than fostering peace, when they so shamelessly pander to warmonger Tshisekedi. Their bending to this gross man can only further encourage him, especially when he proclaims he “wants to attack Rwanda and effect regime change in Kigali.”
Again, shame on the Belgians for being in bed with a malign actor like Tshisekedi, and going along with everything he wishes.
