Despite noisy Congolese attempts to obstruct, EU adopts €20 million in assistance to Rwandan troops’ work in Cabo Delgado

Yesterday (Monday 18) the European Union Council adopted a 20 million Euro top-up package to an already existing assistance program to in support of the deployment of RDF troops in the Cabo Delgado province of Mozambique.

This made Congolese ruler Tshisekedi an even bigger laughingstock, since his regime had invested much time and resources in an attempt to prevent approval for the funding. The Congolese directed much funds (which could have gone into feeding that country’s starving masses for instance) into lobbying the EU to end that support!

It is said the Kinshasa regime was even bribing certain Members of the European Parliament, corruption being a Tshisekedi regime religion – so much faith do they have in it!

Well, those EU MPs willing to “eat” Tshisekedi’s money did so, but delivered nothing apparently – because they failed to derail the RDF assistance package. As the saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted.

Despite the most strenuous efforts by Kinshasa, the EU Council moved forward with the funding. It overwhelmingly upheld its decision to support Rwanda’s mission in Mozambique (which the government of Mozambique is fully on board with).

But such is the circus of Kinshasa that (even before the EU’s decision was announced) they were celebrating “victory” – believing it was a sure deal their lobbying and bribery was going to work.

Kinshasa propagandist-in-chief Patrick Muyaya had publicly blown his vuvuzela, in August, that “the EU would halt its assistance to Rwanda.”

The opposite has instead happened.

The EU’s commitment to supporting RDF operations underscores the effectiveness of Rwanda’s peacekeeping efforts in Cabo Delgado, which are marked by discipline, integrity, and professionalism.

That is the Rwandan way.

Its actions do the talking, and deliver results.
