The DRC has fallen into a pattern where its rulers constantly blame Rwanda for their own failures and blunders.
Whenever big officials of the Congolese government are questioned about their country’s developmental shortcomings, the answer almost invariably is to start bleating about Rwanda. “Woooh, aggression ya ba Rwandais!” Wooooh Rwanda wants balkanization of Congo! Wooooh this and that!”
They engage in the most undignified conduct, that in fact expresses who the real problem of DRC is. It is Tshisekedi and every one of his officials.
The man has been in office over five years now, but has never fixed even one problem of DRC. The opposite in fact!
Insecurity has become far worse.
Poverty has become much worse (of course Tshisekedi has mortgaged his country’s wealth to powerful, overseas interests, in return for personal wealth, him and his lackeys, while the masses of ordinary Congolese suffer some of the worst poverty in the world).
And so, the recurring blame game targeting Rwanda has long been a way for the Kinshasa crooks to deceive not only ordinary Congolese, but even outsiders, and focus attention away from themselves.
Tshisekedi and his government evoke Rwanda’s name at every turn. Whether in domestic addresses or international forums, they won’t keep the name “Rwanda” out of their mouths. When Tshilombo’s officials are asked about the dilapidated state of infrastructure; the wrecked roads; the collapsing bridges last built in Belgian colonial days, or why a natural resource-rich country like DRC is like that, they bleat “Rwandan aggression!”
Even during a recent meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, the President of the Senate, Sama Lukonde, attributed the DRC’s inability to develop artificial intelligence to Rwanda’s supposed interference.
The whole government of Tshisekedi is too pathetic for words!
Recently, contradictory statements by Congolese officials illustrated how disorganized and uncoordinated they are.
On one hand, the Minister of Foreign Affairs signed a harmonized plan to neutralize the FDLR, seen as a significant step towards peace in eastern DRC. On the other hand, the Speaker of the Congolese Parliament, Vital Kamerhe, was in France calling for sanctions against Rwanda, based on allegations that Rwanda had invaded the DRC! Such chaos and incoherence is the hallmark of Tshilombo’s (a completely unserious fellow) government.
In the eyes of objective observers, DRC is a country led by incompetents who refuse to face their shortcomings. As President Macron of France rightly pointed out in 2023, DRC has struggled to restore its military, security, or administrative sovereignty since 1994, the French head of state adding “blaming external actors like Rwanda won’t resolve these deep-seated issues.”
Look out for the Kinshasa gang to fail implementing the latest agreement they’ve signed and, when asked to explain, start blaming Rwanda!
