As Congolese ruler Tshisekedi wastes the limited resources of the Congolese state roaming the world, ridiculously calling for “sanctions against Rwanda”, ironically he also pleads for the lifting of existing sanctions against real looters of the wealth of Congo – during the same outings!
It has emerged that five years ago the United States slapped sanctions on a wealthy international illegal diamond dealer, after it was discovered that the man had fraudulently secured (through Tshisekedi and his plundering cartel) more than US$ 1 billion worth of corrupt mining and oil deals in the DRC. This, the US said, undermined economic growth and “the rule of law” in DRC. Yet none other than Tshisekedi turned up at the doorsteps of the White House, pleading for the sanctions to be lifted! Tshisekedi basically is a partner in crime in the plundering of resources that belong to the Congolese public.
Tshisekedi’s pleas were heard by the former US president, and the sanctions were dropped, only to be reinstated when the current president assumed office in the White House. According to the New York Times, Tshisekedi has renewed his appeal for the lifting of the sanctions on the looter, who is estimated to have deprived the Congolese economy of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Tshisekedi’s excuse for pleading for a notorious looter of the wealth of the Congolese people is that the sanctions could have far-reaching consequences for access to the country’s natural resources! This shocking expose has served to open the eyes of the international community to see who Tshisekedi really is.
Although he portrays himself as the defender of the Congolese people, his primary interest is to use his stint in power to amass as much wealth as possible, and he doesn’t care how many Congolese lose their lives due to his quest for wealth. That is the reason Tshisekedi is now fighting tooth and nail to stay in power to extend his looting spree.
