DRC authorities have resorted to lobbying campaigns to attract the US attention to their rampant internal conflicts with M23, and the government insists on scapegoating Rwanda.
In their campaign, DRC authorities have failed to show an iota of evidence of how Rwanda is implicated in their internal conflicts. They are fighting tooth and nail to persuade lobbyists across the globe to designate M23 as a terrorist group.
The Tshisekedi government also signed multi-dollar contracts with lobbyists to keep pushing the baseless allegations that Rwanda supports a “terrorist group”. This is a wish that would that result in M23 being a terrorist group, to get Rwanda sanctioned.
All these clandestine efforts in their fatuous campaign add up to the incessant dissemination of hate speeches by the Congolese authorities towards Congolese of Tutsi ethnicity and Rwanda as a country. It is no longer a secret that these have resulted in a silent genocide to which DRC has turned a blind eye.
It is evident that since the resurgence of the M23, the Congolese authorities have chosen to dodge DRC’s Gordian knot and opted to cast blame on Rwanda. Which will only worsen DRC’s instabilities.
It is high time that DRC authorities stop externalizing their conflict and start taking full responsibility for their problems. Otherwise, DRC will remain a pig’s den.
