French judiciary has set May 9th, 2022 as the date of trial for Genocide fugitive Laurent Bucyibaruta who is also one of the key architects of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi who had roamed scot-free for years in the European country.
Bucyibaruta was the prefect of the then Gikongoro Prefecture where he masterminded the Genocide and beyond.
The development comes just a year after French President Emmanuel Macron visited Rwanda and delivered a historical speech at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
In the speech, Macron sought the forgiveness of the survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, for what he admitted was his country’s historical and political responsibility in Rwanda.
Bucyibaruta’s trial is just the tip of the iceberg since President Macron also pledged that he would work to ensure no Genocide suspects among those who had been hiding in his country escape justice.
France is home to hundreds of deniers and revisionists as well as dozens of indicted Genocide suspects who include:
1. Agathe Kanziga Habyarimana, widow of the genocidal regime leader Habyarimana
2. Fr. Wenceslas Munyeshyaka
3. Callixte Mbarushimana
4. Col Laurent Serubuga
5. Hyacinthe Rafiki Nsengiyumva
6. Dr Sosthene Munyemana
7. Ignace Bagilishema
8. Innocent Musabyimana
9. Innocent Bagabo
10. Lt. Col. Marcel Bivugabagabo
11. Dr Charles Twagira
12. Venutse Nyombayire
13. Manasse Bigwenzare
14. Pierre Tegera et al.
However, the days of those criminals are numbered as President Macron pledged to not tolerate them anymore. They will soon be brought to book and it’s just a matter of time.
