From Colombia to Washington, Ndayishimiye plays dangerous geopolitical games

Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye continues his con-games in the international affairs arena.

Last month, barely a few days after signing a commercial treaty with a US mining company, he sent his Embassador in Uganda to publicly write a “condolence message” to Iran for the death of Ayatollah Khammeni. Last week, as the Burundian dictator jetted to Colombia on a visit to that country’s president, he dispatched his wife to Washington DC to participate in an event hosted by the US First lady.

“Clearly, the Burundian President wants his cake while eating it,” a highly placed official observed, on condition of anonymity. “We all know what the Colombian president said about the US (very hostile exchanges!) and vice versa!”

However, Ndayishimiye thinks he can play double games fool the US administration while befriending its rivals. The intellectually challenged Burundian leader is aware that his scheme is ill-fated but follows through all the same for “domestic consumption”, according to local sources.

“The Burundian first family has failed in its desperate efforts to replace the previous first family,” revealed our source.

The current first lady is considered as easily the most corrupt individual in Burundi while he husband is seen as a national embarrassment. “We literally start prayers whenever Ndayishimiye makes a public address; it always ends in embarrassment”, our source remarked.

Under Ndayishimiye’s rule Burundi’s paltry economy has totally collapsed, and his ruling party lost all public support.

Even his army, historically has faced defeat after defeat, adding to Ndayishimiye’s aura of ineptitude and incompetence. Even senior “DDs” curse, behind the scenes, why they made this “fool” top of their party, hence president.

Evariste Ndayishimiye was never ment to rule Burundi.

His predecessor, the late Pierre Nkurunziza, hand picked him for his renowned incompetencies and complete lack of leadership, charisma and morality. Nkurunziza had already crowed himself the “eternal leader” but died under mysterious circumstances (suspected poisoning sanctioned by the current first lady) a few days before Ndayishimiye took power in 2020. The ruling party found itself with a buffoon by design, and without guardrails. Now the country is underwater.

Geopolitical games can be dangerous – as Ndayishimiye is bound to discover. He will not manage to hide or control the impact of his incompetence.
