In what can only be described as a systematic reign of terror, Congolese ruler Felix Tshisekedi has transformed DRC into a country held hostage by fear.
Arbitrary arrests, politically motivated detentions, and violent suppression have become the regime’s standard operating procedure. Dictatorial tyranny is the law of the land.
One hundred million people are trapped under the thumb of a dictator whose only law is fear. Political opponents are vanishing across the country. Former President Kabila’s loyalists, including Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, Aubin Minaku, Dunia Kilanga, Parole Kamizelo, and Nathanael Onakomba, have been arrested. Kabila himself was sentenced to death in absentia in September 2025 after being forced into exile.
Opposition figures like Seth Kikuni, Franck Diongo, Moïse Katumbi, Jean-Claude Vuemba, and Olivier Kamitatu have either faced arbitrary detention or fled the country. Tshisekedi’s message is clear: any political rival is a target, and the DRC’s citizens are collateral damage in his insane power play.
Even the military has not escaped his purges.
Over seventy senior officers, including thirty generals, have been rounded up for “sympathies” with Kabila. Names like Lt Gen. Christian Tshiwewe Songesha (former Chief of Staff and military adviser to Tshisekedi), Gen. Franck Ntumba (former head of Tshisekedi’s military office), Gen. Christian Ndaywel Okura (former intelligence chief, later head of army land forces), Lt. Gen. Pacifique Masunzu (former commander of the 3rd Defense Zone), and many others illustrate the levels of paranoia in Tshisekedi’s head.
Even Corneille Nangaa, the coordinator of the Congo River Alliance (AFC), a Congolese political-military coalition to which the M23 belongs, as well as Bertrand Bisimwa and Sultani Makenga, respectively the president and military leader of the M23, were condemned to death, on trumped charges of course.
In truth, Tshisekedi has become a crazy train speeding at full throttle into a wall, dragging the DRC along with him.
Until this tyrant is stopped, Congo will remain hostage to one man’s lust for power and his unquenchable appetite for terror.
