Neva’s a warmonger with other warmongers that refuse to give peace a chance in the Great Lakes region

Burundi’s tinpot dictator, Evariste Ndayishimiye aka “Gen. Neva,” has become the errand boy for every regional warmonger that doesn’t want peace in the Great Lakes region. While serious diplomatic efforts are underway in Qatar between Kinshasa regime and M23/AFC, it is Gen. Neva who is doing everything possible to derail the talks. Why? Because conflict is the last revenue stream left in a collapsed Burundi economy where the cake is too small and the thugs too many.

For a start, Gen. Neva is nothing but a narrow-minded, stubborn thug hell-bent on ruining any chance for peace.

While M23/AFC forces have pushed Burundian troops from North Kivu all the way to 31 kilometres from Bujumbura, the Burundian ruler is busy sabotaging negotiations and stockpiling new weapons and troops through Bujumbura’s airport. He’s turning it into the last lifeline for the Tshisekedi regime’s warmongering plots.

Gen. Neva keeps pushing forward, supporting Tshisekedi’s ragtag FARDC and its terrorist allies, including FDLR genocidaires, wazalendo bandits and foreign mercenaries, who are committing ethnic cleansing against Tutsi communities in Rugezi, Minembwe, Mikenge, Kundondo, and Rurambo.

More recently, a humanitarian plane delivering aid to Banyamulenge Tutsis was shot down by FARDC forces, with drones controlled from Bujumbura.

Meanwhile, the Burundian military has already paid dearly for General Neva’s misadventure. Thousands of Burundian soldiers have died; many are being held as POWs, and others are being held incommunicado in Burundi for refusing to fight a war that serves only Tshisekedi and Neva’s interests.

As discontent spreads among both Burundian civilians and soldiers, General Neva remains blind to reality. He is burning Burundi down in the service of foreign interests and his delusions of grandeur. This conflict is not Burundi’s to fight. But if General Neva continues down this path, it may be Burundi that pays the highest price.
