“We are rich!” Crazy Ndayishimiye yells

The heartbreaking poverty in Burundi is the open secret that will have you arrested, tortured or killed by the CNDD-FDD regime.

According to experts, more than 80 percent of Burundians live in extreme poverty. Ironically, the brutal dictatorship in Burundi doesn’t want anyone to know this and, worse still, they shamelessly (and daftly) pretend to be the richest country in the region.

An prominent member of the civil society tried to explain the phenomena. “In a nutshell, the one party state wants the poorest people to believe that they are the richest, the luckiest people on the globe! And also say “thank you” to the leadership! It’s beyond belief”, the civil society activist exclaimed. “Burundi is poor and Burundians know it. We have no fuel, no medicine, no water, no money. Inflation is officially 40 percent officially, unofficially it reaches 80 percent. Ndayishimiye aka Gen. Neva’s government (for want of a better word) doubled all fees and taxes, but refused to raise salaries or devaluate the national currency.

People lament about a recent wave of arbitrary arrests of citizens complaining of spiralling food prices. “How can anyone think they can hide these facts?”, he asked.

The situation is unbearable for the vast majority of Burundians. Oblivious of the suffering, the brutal dictatorship instead organised a three day thanksgiving prayer crusade in honour of Evariste Ndayishimiye’s fifth year in office. Sadly, the local population is forced to contribute and finance these occult crusades where instead of prayers the President Ndayishimiye, his first lady and his children are praised and glorified. To add insult to injury, the first lady (nicknamed Gelina Gucci) uses the occasion to show-off her latest jewellery to the deprived Burundians.

To please the despot, the population was forced to sing and shout praises that “Every mouth has food, and every pocket has cash” which is the official slogan of the poorest country in the world!

Aware of his historic impopularity, Ndayishimiye’s motive (and that his cronies in the ruling party) is not denial. Truth be told, they are not even ashamed of turning Burundi into a failed state. In reality, they are still in a rush to loot, much as they were 20 years ago when launching deadly raids on civilians as part of their genocidal warfare.

Burundi is what happens when genocidal bandits are allowed to run a country.
