Burundian president Evariste Ndayishimiye aka Gen. Neva is in full panic mode. His world has been turned upside down; this is after a third of his army perished in the battle of Goma which three weeks ago fell to the AFC/M23 liberators.
Gen. Neva had sent (rented out) 12,000 of his best soldiers, including from his presidential guard (BSPI) to go fight in DR Congo as part of Felix Tshisekedi’s coalition. (This was composed of the Congo army FARDC, South African and other SADC bloc troops, Wazalendo bandits, European mercenaries, as well as Gen. Neva’s Burundians, before M23 routed, and scattered all of them in the battle for Goma).
Gen. Neva – an Mbonerakure who has only ever known battles involving waylaying unarmed civilians, firing at civilian cars, burning civilian property, and other acts of banditry like that- is shell shocked, according to sources close to the Burundian presidency.
He thought that fighting M23 would be the same as what they used to do as rebels of Cndd/Fdd group that used to terrorize mostly Burundian civilians (though every now and then, they took potshots at Burundi government troops). And so, when they (DDs) took power (through a brokered peace process by Mandela and Nyerere), they must have thought they were so very tough!
But M23 has exposed them as a bunch of hapless bandits, with a bumbling ruler (Evariste Ndayishimiye aka Gen. Neva) more suited to be in a clown show than anything else.
The self proclaimed “Major-General” Evariste Ndayishimiye had hoped for a quick victory in order to promote himself to the highest rank, and become a four-star general. But karma, as they say, is a b*#ch. The Burundian army (not much better than imbonerakure thugs really) are licking their wounds – even worse than any of Tshilombo’s other coalition members.
Also, Gen. Neva’s illusions that the genocidaire alliance he’s a member of, which is centered on extermination of Tutsis in the Great Lakes Region, were dashed in Goma.
The chief “mbonerakure” had even made promises to his inner circle in Bujumbura, telling them, “Don’t worry, it will be a very short war, and Congo will solve our financial problems.” Instead, the war has left everyone of the evil alliance deeply embarrassed, a global laughingstock, and in Burundi’s case, high and dry. The country’s dilapidated economy is fully collapsed (no fuel – igitoro – no medical supplies, and zero money in the so-called state coffers). All that not mentioning the anger, silent, seething, directed at Gen. Neva after his reckless acts led to thousands of Burundian soldiers losing their lives in the forests, jungles, and plains of eastern DR Congo.
And now the war moves, closer and closer, to the Burundian border.
No wonder Evariste Ndayishimiye aka Gen. Neva these days is making speeches that sound more and more like the ravings of a madman.
A few days ago he was issuing threats against Rwanda, when he was delivering some food to a hunger-striken community a long distance away from Bujumbura.
“We are not like goats like Congo. We will fight Rwanda”, he ranted, showing what a frighted state of mind he is in.
However, by issuing such threats, he is in fact sinking himself even deeper.
Just wait when RED Tabara gets closer, to Uvira, the man will be bleating like a goat!
