The Walls Close In On SAMIDRC In Eastern DRC

The March 23 Movement (M23), a Congolese political-military group, has issued an ultimatum to the SADC Mission in the DRC (SAMIDRC): sever all ties with Tshisekedi’s coalition of negative forces—the FARDC, genocidal FDLR, FNDB, white mercenaries, and the so-called “Wazalendo.” M23 has made it clear: compliance with this demand could spare everyone from a devastating clash. Refusal? Well, that’s a power keg ready to explode into open confrontation between SAMIDRC and M23/AFC forces.

The eastern DRC civil war is a bloodbath that has already left thousands of Congolese civilians and foreign soldiers dead or wounded. And for SAMIDRC? Over 50 SAMIDRC soldiers have perished in combat, with more than 30 of those fatalities hailing from South Africa’s National Defence Force (SANDF). To make matters worse, over 30 South African troops are now languishing in critical condition, victims of a war that is not theirs to fight. Their sacrifice? For what? Absolutely nothing.

Let’s call it like it is: SAMIDRC was doomed from the start. Underfunded, undersized, and underequipped, this deployment is hopelessly outmatched by the battle-hardened Congolese native from M23. Yet, Tshisekedi, the idiot, has dragged SAMIDRC in his futile, self-serving militarism, relying on foreign soldiers to prop up his sinking regime. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: SAMIDRC needs to wake up, acknowledge this is not their battle.

As the civil war creeps closer to Goma, where SAMIDRC is stationed, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Tshisekedi’s blind militarism has brought the country to the brink of a full-scale national crisis, one he arrogantly refuses to address through political solutions. If SAMIDRC doesn’t distance itself from Tshisekedi’s coalition of genocidal militias, they’ll inevitably find themselves caught in the crossfire.

Let’s not mince words: M23 has been clear in its position—it will not sit idly by while innocent Congolese civilians in Goma are butchered by Tshisekedi’s coalition. M23 remains committed to defending the people in territories under its control and silencing the guns that threaten them, whether in Goma or elsewhere. The warning to SAMIDRC is unequivocal: choose your side wisely, and do so quickly. Because if you remain shackled to Tshisekedi’s idiotic ambitions, the reckoning will be swift, and the consequences devastating.
