No amount of pressure, diplomacy, or endless meetings will ever dislodge the tropical Nazis of the FDLR from DRC, as long as they have the full support of DR Congo ruler Tshisekedi.
The question is, what amount of pressure can make Tshisekedi stop his criminal alliance with FDLR, as a first step to disarming them, declaring them an illegal armed group in DRC that’s to be disbanded henceforth?
This Sunday, on 15 December, Tshisekedi will once again sit down with President Paul Kagame in Luanda, Angola – part of ongoing efforts at diplomatically or peacefully resolving DRC bloody conflicts Still.
Here, one has to wonder how the man who has turned a blind eye to the FDLR will suddenly agree to disarm the group. One has to wonder if the Congolese president is even capable of honoring commitments he himself has signed!
Let’s break it down. A fresh report from UN experts has confirmed what everyone already knows: the genocidal FDLR is alive and well in eastern DR Congo, teaming up with every local armed group (ADF, MaiMai, you name it), and enjoying cosy collaborations with Congolese generals. And guess what? They’re not operating in a vacuum.
When Tshisekedi’s regime is not conveniently turning a blind eye to their activities, it is actually integrating them into FARDC, the regime’s military.
Utter madness!
Now for the real kicker: Felix Tshisekedi has long been playing footsie with the FDLR, a group that is listed among the world’s most wanted terrorist organizations.
These are the remnants of the same “Hutu Power” forces that butchered over a million Tutsis here in Rwanda in 1994.
So, what’s Tshisekedi’s excuse for getting so close to these heinous criminals? One reason probably is because he is an inveterate criminal himself!
Other than that, of course everyone knows Tshisekedi uses the Rwandan terrorist group in his campaign of genocide against native Congolese Tutsi communities, even as he tries to deny knowing them, shameless charlatan that he is.
Last June for instance Felix Tshisekedi dared claim the FDLR were a “figment of Rwanda’s imagination,” a foolish little piece of fake news meant to paint a picture of innocence as his vuvuzelas slandered Rwanda with their perennial accusation of “Rwandan aggression.”
Here’s the thing: The FDLR could be disarmed without a single bullet being fired if Tshisekedi wanted to.
He doesn’t.
All he would have to do would be to stop arming them, cut off their precious plundered resources, and encourage local chiefs to stop turning a blind eye to their criminal acts. Voilà! Problem solved.
Luanda has to mount the pressure on him!
