The killings are intensifying in the ongoing civil war within eastern DRC as soldiers loyal to Tshisekedi Tshilombo, continue to fall like dominoes. This time, it’s none other than the notorious EU-sanctioned genocidaire and Tshisekedi ally, Ruvugayimikore Protégé, also known as Ruhinda who died on December 2023. The commander of the CRAP unit, responsible for unleashing terror against Congolese Tutsi communities in special military operations within the genocidal forces of FDLR, Ruhinda’s demise marks a significant blow to Tshisekedi’s coalition forces.
As Tshisekedi’s ally, on May 8 and 9, 2022, Ruhinda participated in planning meetings with FARDC officials, obtaining weapons and ammunition in Pinga town. According to the UN group of experts reveals that Colonel Salomon Tokolonga, under the orders of General Peter Cirimwami – now the military governor of North Kivu province – provided military support to Ruhinda’s FDLR unit. Moreover, this support received the green light from the head of the Military House, General Franck Ntumba, and the army chief of staff, General Christian Tshiwewe, acting on the directives of none other than Tshisekedi, the Commander in Chief of the DRC army.
Secondly, Ruhinda employed BM-21 rockets provided by Tshisekedi to shell Rwandan territory. Specifically, on June 10, 2022, Ruhinda launched two 122mm rockets from Bunagana, situated near the Ugandan border, striking the Musanze district. These incidents followed prior bombings by FARDC/FDLR on March 19 and May 23, 2022. Despite full awareness that the FDLR consisted of individuals who were guilty of the crime of crimes- the genocide of over a million Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994, Tshisekedi armed the group with long-range artillery, fully cognizant of their ultimate goal – the completion of the unfinished extermination of Rwanda’s “Tutsi” population. In essence, by backing FDLR’s goal, Tshisekedi endorsed their genocidal aspirations.
Moreover, Tshisekedi integrated the Ruhinda CRAP-FDLR special force unit into the 22nd Brigade of FARDC, despite numerous resolutions, including the Luanda roadmap, where Tshisekedi himself pledged to disband such genocidal forces. Regrettably, this commitment remains unfulfilled to date. Instead, Tshisekedi’s army, FARDC, persists in collaborating with the FDLR, engaging in both resource trafficking and violence against the Congolese civilian population.
Finally, Ruhinda passed away without facing accountability for ethnically based killings, and mass rape of women and children, as part of Tshisekedi’s coalition forces (FARDC, FDLR, APCLS, PARECO, NYATURA, CODECO, Mai-Mai, and Agamira mercenaries). Moreover, Ruhinda’s demise dealt a severe blow to Tshisekedi’s coalition, which continues to experience significant losses and escalating demoralization. Additionally, it marks a setback for the genocidal FDLR group, following the killing of its supreme military leader, Sylvestre Mudacamura, in September 2019.
