Different Heads of State and delegates from African countries met yesterday in Bujumbura, Burundi, for the 11th Summit of the Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) of Peace and insisted on the urgency of finding a lasting solution to the security instability of the Region, particularly in the East of the DRC.
But the clearly failed Tshisekedi was again trotting out his periodic whines and blame games against Rwanda; an endless, childish song of which many – including fellow members of the Congolese delegation are fed up with, which even led to some snoozing off in the meeting.
Tshisekedi’s constant finger-pointing and blame-shifting are hindering the efforts toward the peaceful resolution of conflicts. And yet, he is the same person who chooses to legislate a law that shields many notorious armed groups from accountability to continue laundering crimes against humanity. One may wonder whether Tshisekedi opts for a lasting solution or has zero interest in peace.
Tshisekedi still has a primary role in contributing to the lasting solution of insecurity in his country, before pointing fingers at any of his neighbors. The Heads of state’s efforts toward peace are evident, and so it is up to Tshisekedi to prioritize the implementation of the framework and value the efforts made.
