“Shock”, is how our source in the Burundian State House described the appointment of Ambassador Evelyne Butoyi as the Minister of Communication. The appointment was dropped right after the funeral of the previous Minister of Communication, Gabby Bugaga, mysteriously found dead in a palm plantation. Bugaga had made a habit of binge drinking with the President of the Burundian banana republic Evariste Ndayishimiye. Their drinking spree would last hours and irritate everyone at state house including the Burundian First Lady, Angeline Ndayishimiye.
“Only on a State House order would have Bugaga been killed”, our source narrated, “and the first lady hated him with a particular passion. She blamed him for constantly getting the Burundian President drunk”. The response was swift according to our source, Essentially, Ndayishimiye brought his old girlfriend back to cabinet. She had been fired as State House spokeswoman by the First Lady and then exiled to Zambia as ambassador for her safety by Ndayishimiye.
“The First Lady was fuming and cursing everyone in her sight. We are still in shock that Ndayishimiye brought her back”, the worried State House official leaked. The Burundian regime, a brutal dictatorship, is founded on an informal web of oligarchs most of whom also happen to be Army Generals. Over and over again, these oligarchs had lodged complaints about the Burundian First Lady claiming she overreached her authority and that she had become more powerful than the Burundian Dictator.
According to the intel reaching our political desk, the Burundian despot now can’t see eye to eye with the ruling party-CNDD-FDD Secretary General- Révérien Ndikuriyo who’s running a clandestine plot to eliminate the primitive ruler on the groups of incompetence, corruption and mismanaging the national economy. Perhaps Neva simply wanted to send a message to his fellow Generals that the First Lady is still under his control. Either way, State House will not be peaceful after Evelyne Butoyi’s appointment. Ndayishimiye’s revenge was swift; for killing his friend, he publicly humiliated his wife with the new Burundian Communication Minister. Hopefully, the newly appointed Minister will also secure a bullet proof vest and vehicle.
