At the request of the Prosecutor, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau has arrested Ingabire Umuhoza Victoire (IVU) following the launch of an investigation aimed at enforcing the High Court’s ruling in the case involving Sibomana Sylvain and his co-accused, the goal is to bring Ingabire before the court to answer for serious charges.
IVU and her co-accused face charges of forming a criminal group and planning activities intended to incite public disorder. The prosecution asserts that her involvement centers around an alleged training program that reportedly included former members of DALFA-Umurinzi, her unregistered political party. According to the evidence presented, this program aimed to incite public dissent and mobilize support for an unlawful regime change.
Multiple former members of DALFA-Umurinzi have testified about their shared objective of overthrowing Rwanda’s legitimate leadership claims that Ingabire herself continues to deny.
Fugitives of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and anti-Rwanda sympathizers backing Ingabire have been attempting to distort the narrative, they claim that her co-accused were arrested simply for reading a book, it is inconceivable that the government would prosecute anyone merely for reading a book.
Evidence confirmed that a woman named Assoumpta, a member of FDU Inkingi currently residing in Switzerland, has been collaborating with members of JAMBO asbl such as Alfred Antoine Uzabakiriho and Gustave Mbonyumutwa to train operatives in organizing public protests, the very book in question was being used as a recruitment and indoctrination tool in this campaign to undermine national security.
The ultimate goal of this so-called “regime change” is to install a government that would not only exonerate convicted fugitives but also complete the genocidal mission that was halted in 1994.
Since receiving a presidential pardon, Ingabire’s track record has been one of continued subversive actions and propaganda against Rwanda. Her conduct has only reinforced suspicions about her intentions and alliances with genocide perpetrators.
In Rwanda, no one is above the law, the justice system applies the law equally to all no “puppet” of the genocidaires will be shielded.
