Congolese pay the ultimate price in blood as Tshisekedi keeps arming the genocidal forces of FDLR

In a jaw-dropping display of ineptitude, Congolese ruler Tshisekedi continues to throw his weight behind various militias operating under the banner of ”Wazalendo”, including the infamous Maccabé Group (formerly known as the Commando de recherche et d’action en profondeur (CRAP) of the FDLR-FOCA, in a bid to keep the fires of conflict burning in the eastern DRC.

These actions, defy the very peace agreements that Tshisekedi is supposed to be upholding, including the Luanda and Nairobi peace Roadmap. These agreements couldn’t be more explicit: the genocidal forces of FDLR are meant to be dismantled, and hostilities should cease. But it appears that Tshisekedi has a rather unique interpretation of these agreements, which he signed alongside regional Heads of State.

Presently, thanks to Tshisekedi’s not-so-wise counsel, the Congolese army (FARDC), supported by the tropical Nazi from FDLR and other Wazalendo militias is engaged in fierce clashes with the M23 Congolese rebels. Instead of focusing their firepower on the rebels, who are prioritizing the protection of civilian populations, the coalition aligned with Tshisekedi is shelling territories inhabited by unarmed civilian Congolese Tutsis.

Tshisekedi’s coalition seems focused on two objectives: first to defeat the M23 and, to eliminate or force Congolese Tutsis into exile. Second, to push the remaining population towards Rwanda and subsequently launch an attack on Rwanda, with the FDLR at the frontlines. This strategy is nothing short of suicidal and has far-reaching consequences for peace and security in the region.

In the end, the burning question here is how long Tshisekedi’s regime will persist in its unwavering support for Rwandan genocidaires from the FDLR, who are relentlessly bent on disturbing the hard-earned peace enjoyed by the Rwandan people. And what awaits him when he finally meets the consequences of his actions? History offers a reminder: the last time a Congolese ruler (think Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu wa Za Banga) clung to genocidaires on Congolese soil, he ended up in exile, where he died like a dog in an unpleasant and undignified manner. Is that what Tshisekedi wishes for? He might just get his wish in the end.
