Congolese government authorities keep on behaving like spoilt but big children, always sparking trouble then rushing to cry that it is Rwanda! They deliberately refused to solve internal Congolese problems such as integrating the M23 movement into FARDC (as agreed by their own government). Instead when M23 fought to defend itself from genocide, Tshisekedi began crying loudly that it is “Rwanda!” As always, Rwanda is the perfect scapegoat for Tshisekedi and his government’s failures to deal with Congo issues.
However, this childish strategy keeps failing, and will continue to fail. It is wrong and dishonest, that’s why it will always fail.
All high-level meetings including the recent Luanda Tripartite Summit, and the EAC Heads of State conclave made recommendations, and roadmaps for Kinshasa to solve internal problems. Yet the Tshisekedi regime has contemptuously refused to implement the recommendations. All they know is to cry and accuse others of their failures.
They constantly engage in propaganda to tarnish Rwanda as “the impetus behind insecurity in Eastern Congo. The regime’s Foreign Affair Minister Christophe Lutundula is leading the nefarious campaign.
One of the fictions that failed to hold water is that “the Rwandan army is currently occupying North Kivu.” This is gibberish supported with nothing. The so-called campaign to compel the African Union to impose sanctions on Rwanda will just further expose Tshisekedi as a laughingstock.
On its part the leadership of Rwanda has maintained a quiet, diplomatic stance amidst the ceaseless provocations, insults, and slanders from the Tshisekedi regime. Kigali always urges the Congolese authorities to address their internal issues, but such advice falls on deaf ears.
Rwanda’s diplomatic stance however should never be taken for weakness.
Tshisekedi should learn that.
