Pressure mounts in Kinshasa as UK and US politicians expose Tshisekedi’s Lies

Soon after statements by Senator Ronny Jackson, a Republican congressman, regarding the DRC following his tour of the East African region, it was the turn of MP Pat McFadden of the UK Labour Party to challenge his government on the ongoing persecution of Congolese Tutsis in South Kivu.

Appearing before the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Africa, which was holding a hearing titled *”Metals, Minerals, and Mining: How the CCP Fuels Conflict and Exploitation in Africa,”*

Congressman Ronny Jackson exposed the truth about Tshisekedi’s government and its role in exacerbating the crisis in the region.

The Texas congressman revealed that the DRC government has been marred by rampant corruption, highlighting how it imposed taxes on a foreign mining companies that exceeded its entire investment capital.

Jackson further stated that the government in Kinshasa lacks the means to ensure peace in the region, that multiple countries are exploiting its mineral resources, and that the M23 group—whether or not supported by Rwanda—is now virtually unchallenged. He also affirmed that M23’s cause is legitimate, given that some of its people have not been recognized as Congolese.

As Senator Ronny Jackson was explaining what is happening in the Eastern DRC, MP McFadden of the UK labor party was tasking his government to take action against the ongoing persecution of the Banyamulenge in South Kivu and other marginalized Tutsi communities in Eastern DRC.

Responding to appeals from Banyamulenge members in his constituency, the Labour Party legislator wrote to Lord Collins of Highbury, Minister for Africa, urging him to push the UK government to act before the situation escalates into further bloodshed.

It is becoming increasingly clear that countries in the Global North only needed to scratch the surface to uncover the realities of the DRC crisis—contrary to the persistent falsehoods from Kinshasa, which continually implicate Rwanda in its social, political, and economic troubles.

From the way things are unfolding, the Global North is slowly waking up to Tshisekedi’s lies. It is only a matter of time before they categorically sideline him and openly support the real liberators—M23.
