Belgium has exploited the Democratic Republic of Congo far more than any imperialist force in the world. In the past Belgian imperialist agents exterminated untold numbers of Congolese civilians (estimated at 13 million) as Leopold looted the vast territory dry. Later Belgian was by far the leader in volumes of illicit trade in Congolese resources (mining, logging, money laundering, drug-trafficking).
The greed of the Belgians is insatiable, and they are determined to keep their former prize colony in perpetual chaos.
One way they are going about it is to try destabilizing By lobbying for unfair sanctions. Belgium literally sabotaged the Luanda peace initiatives, and with news that Qatar succeeded in organising a meeting between stakeholders to descalate, Belgium deployed troops to escalate tensions the region.
“The endgame is simple, keep Tshisekedi on a warpath”, an African diplomate anonymously observed. Belgium wants Tshisekedi to keep ramping up conflict, by making him believe that 300 to 400 Belgian soldiers will change things on the ground.
The Congo’s colonial ruler is also lobbying the international criminal tribunal to issue arrest warrants for M23 commanders. The Belgians display a colonial hangover that, should they make the slightest mistake of engaging in warfare, they will be cured of, forever!
The military deployment of Belgian special forces in Kindu, strategic city for the mining industry in Congo, confirms what all observes have rightly pointed out on Belgium’s involment in the Eastern DR Congo crisis. “Belgium has so much conflict of interests in DRC that it should simply be considered as a billgirent party to the conflict,” commentators and pundits observe.
Ever since the infamous Berlin Conference of 1884-5 whereby Belgian King Leopold II claimed Congo as his private property, the tiny European nation weirdly keeps thinking it’s entitled to the Congo as a gigantic natural resource pit to exploit as they wish.
Those days are numbered, but in their arrogance they can’t see it.
On hearing Qatar made progress in peacetalks, the old fomenter, and beneficiary of ethnic divisions and hate thought it had no choice but to send troops to muddy the waters.
They will suffer a decisive defeat.
