Belgium the notorious former colonial overlord of DR Congo has announced its giving military assistance to the Tshisekedi regime. The imperialists are leaving no stone unturned in propping up their puppet.
In doing so, they are defying African-led initiatives like the Nairobi and Luanda processes, which have repeatedly called for a negotiated settlement between Tshisekedi and the Congolese political-military movement M23/AFC.
For years, Belgium has carved out a role for itself as the main “war party” within the Western bloc, actively sabotaging every diplomatic effort and working to prolong the conflict in the DRC, why?
Because they need a Congo that is weak, chaotic, and ripe for plunder— just as they have done since arch-imperialist agent Henry Morton Stanley laid the foundations for the voracious Belgian monarch Leopold II’s monstrous looting operation in 1877.
The methods may have changed today, but the intentions remain the same: exploitation first and foremost.
Belgium’s unwavering support for Tshisekedi isn’t just only about extracting minerals, though that’s certainly a major incentive. It’s also about ideology; a colonial mindset that seeks to dominate and divide.
So the European state is unconditionally backing a regime that is actively involved in genocide: that’s to say Tshisekedi’s targeting the Congolese Tutsi communities for annihilation. Just as they (Belgium) started the whole pogroms and ethnic cleansing thing against the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1959, culminating in the 1994 bloodbath.
It’s true heart of darkness stuff.
In Kinshasa, the emboldened Tshisekedi is doubling down in his bloodthirsty goal, believing (rightly) that whatever atrocities he inflicts his imperialist boss will back him.
But reality has a karmic way of humbling fools.
Just as Belgium abandoned Mobutu when he became a liability, they will abandon Tshilombo when his inevitable downfall becomes inevitable. And with the armed Congolese opposition gaining ground and Tshisekedi’s incompetence on full display, that moment is fast approaching
