In his latest outburst, RNC Mouthpiece David Himbara is touting airhead notions about the Rwandan economic records, making false claims, and even prophesizing things that are already demonstrably false. Of course, one can always expect a mouthpiece sponsored by Museveni, Rujugiro and their RNC terrorist organization to attack economic data which shows how well Rwanda has been performing.
For starters, Himbara was wrong and intentionally deceptive when he claimed that Rwanda’s head of state is delivering neither democracy nor prosperity. Has Himbara been living under a rock for the last two decades to not know that Rwanda went through a period of high economic growth and managed to record an 8% growth rate which has been sustained since then and makes Rwanda one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa? Or he is being deliberately ignorant?
Is Himbara so divorced from reality that he is not aware that President Kagame’s continuous economic reform program has significantly positioned Rwanda as a leading emerging market in some of the major international and regional performance indices rankings? For instance, corruption significantly reduced between 2000 and 2018. According to the Control of Corruption Indicator (WGI) of the World Bank, starting from a score of –0.60 (out of 1) in 2000, Rwanda achieved a score of +0.58 in 2018. Similarly, the Ibrahim Index of African Governance registered a change of +5.9 between 2008 and 2017, from 58.4 to 64.3 (%), making Rwanda the fifth-best improver out of the 54 African countries analyzed.
Was Himbara’s head buried in the sand when the World Bank ranked Rwanda second in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) in terms of ease of doing business when the WJP Rule of Law Index: registered: in 2020 placed Rwanda second out of 31 countries in the SSA region? In trade openness, according to the World Bank Data, the percentage of trade over GDP in Rwanda even improved from 31.2 in 2000 to 51.5 in 2018.
In all truth, Himbara thinks he can hoodwink his readers but his scaremongering sponsored propaganda won’t stop Rwandans to continue building a nation that is united and competitive both regionally and globally.
